OCMW Menen

In Belgium, the OCMW offers a wide range of social services, from financial and medical support to housing and legal advice. As part of their offering, they also manage several care homes for the elderly. In 2014, OCMW Menen started the construction of Andante, a new residential care center on the edge of the city. Because they wanted to offer their residents a comfortable home, they looked for a service provider who could help them set up an IPTV solution in the room.

As a system integrator with almost 40 years of experience in solutions for hospitals, hotels, prisons and many more, Oscart had a deep understanding of all the possibilities that IPTV had to offer. They challenged the OCMW to think beyond in-room entertainment and consider the ways in which Philips Professional Displays could be used to improve the daily lives of residents, without creating additional work for Andante's staff.

To achieve this, Oscart implemented a complete solution that meets the needs of the care center, its residents and their visitors. The new setup included Philips televisions in the room, displays and signage in common areas, touch applications for easy interaction. As promised, the new system goes far beyond in-room entertainment. Oscart, for example, created a customized information channel for Andante. The easy-to-use content management system allows staff to provide residents with updates via their televisions, such as daily menus and upcoming events. The in-room televisions are also linked to a touchscreen service at reception, the People Locator. When visitors arrive, they use the screen to indicate who they are visiting, automatically alerting the resident that a visitor is on their way. It is even possible to send photos and personal messages via the same system.

A single system with enormous possibilities: Oscart used a professional IPTV network with professional screens from Philips for a variety of needs, from signage and entertainment to communication with residents.

A new way to interact with residents: the innovative People Locator gives residents peace of mind by alerting them to visitors passing by. It also makes it easier for visitors, doctors and other (medical) employees to quickly find a specific resident.

Easy-to-use content management: from updating their custom information channel to posting tonight's menu, the Oscart content management system makes it easy for staff to add new information to the displays.

A long-term, full-service partnership: from the field and implementation to ongoing support, Oscart worked closely with OCMW Menen every step of the way. The long-term partnership between Philips and Oscart has also been crucial in overcoming challenges and developing creative, valuable solutions for Andante.

Oscart looks forward to supporting the information and entertainment needs of Andante and its residents for years to come.
